I was diagnosed with bronchitis yesterday, given antibiotics and cough syrup with Codeine in it to help me get some sleep. The problem is that the Codeine isn't helping me sleep at all. I spent the night up coughing just as much as when I was taking regular cough syurp. I've tried sleeping with my upper body elevated but still only get around an hour of rest before the coughing starts again. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to ease my symptoms so I can get some sleep?

It says it's for cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation. It's not that bad.. It's acute..Would it be safe to take it?

My son was diagnosed with bronchitis yesterday and prescibed a "z-pack" Zithromax anitbiotic. Yesterday he took the first double dose and will take the 2nd dose today @ 5pm. He has a highschool soccer game today. Is it ok for him to play in the game. As a defender there is less running than the mid and forward positions.

I am 38w2d pregnant, and I had a cold that turned into bronchitis. Right now, its to the point where its just a cough-lots of phlegm. My Dr ok'd me to take robitussin or sudafed to alleviate symptoms, or suffer throguh it, but I took each of them (at different times, of course) and neither did crap for it. I was wondering if there were any things I could do-or eat or drink that could loosen up the phlegm and help with the cough? I am miserable!

I got bronchitis and was given methylprednisolone and now my upper back and neck are sore to the touch. Can anyone help?

My dog has been diagnosed by her vet with chronic bronchitis. She is only 2 years old so my vet will not treat her with puffers or corticosteroids because of long term affect. Have tried cough syrop, antihistamines, and air purifier and humidifier and nothing works. Am looking for a holistic treatment to try and help minimize cough.

I think my girlfriend may have chronic bronchitis, even though she doesn't want to believe this, the reason I think she does is because last year she had bronchitis 4 times, and so far this year it's been 3 times, not to mention just today, the doctor said she was getting it AGAIN, so that sounds like 8 times within 1 1/2-1 2/3 years and I think it's becomming a serious problem. The doctor say's bronchitis, and she gets lots of phlem (typo?) in her chest and throat n stuff, which is how bronchitis starts I heard, excess mucus and it gets infected. I'm going to have a heart to heart convo with her after work about this, regardless if the smoking is the cause, she needs to quit. She has been on an inhaler a few times in the past when it get's really bad, but not all the time. The doctor prescribed her some antibiotics to take care of it, and even a couple times the really strong stuff, it clears it up, but then just comes back. Btw she is only 21 years old.

If someone coughs constantly for over a month, and it produces lots of mucus, do they probably have chronic bronchitis? This person is a smoker for about 1-2 years. How can you make this go away? Is quitting the only solution? Can chronic bronchitis lead to anything more serious other than just an annoying cough? Thanks.

i went to the er about a week ago and he said i had acute bronchitis after i told him i couldnt breath that well, was coughing nasty stuff up and my back hurt.. well now its gotten worse, its really hard to breath, i've lost my appetite, my heart seems to be beating faster then usual and this cough i have is driving me crazy... is that part of bronchitis? i've never had it before. they gave me an inhaler that is being discontinued due to enviromental impact it says..i dont want to use it now... i also had a staph infection, impetigo and cellulitus so i got an antibiotic it says this on the bottle:SMZ/TMP DS 800-160 TAB...i have NO idea what it is.

The doctor told me I had "acute bronchitis" and I was wondering what the difference was between that and normal bronchitis. Thanks in advance!

I have never had asthma or any other resp illness, besides common colds.. I havent' been to a dr. for illness in about 5 years - I am extremely healthy. The other night, I took my daughter to a petting zoo and developed an immediate allergic reaction - runny nose, sinus congestion.. which had settled in my chest by the next morning. My Dr. said he didn't know what the He## I got into, but that it kicked my butt... LOL.. and that he couldn't write that down as a diagnosis, so he was writing down "asthmatic bronchitis" I asked him straight if that meant I now had asthma, and he said, oh, no, not unless you develop more instances of this.. But, when I look it up, all it points back to is asthma.. can anyone explain this to me in more detail?

My 5 month old daughter was just diagnoses with asthmatic bronchitis. The dr said it was probably due to allergies. Could this actually be cause by animals? What is the average survival period for a COPDer? If it is common for a patient to have a trachea for COPD, does the patient still need mechanical ventilation?

She's a tox fox terrier, nine years old. She's had diabetes for about 3 years. We give her insulin every 12 hours. Vet had her on antibiotics for COPD but don't seem to help much. She still breathes from her stomach mostly instead of her lungs. She coughs a lot and cough meds has hydrocodon in it and I don't want her 'Drugged" out all the time. She's still very lively at times, plays with toy's, etc.

i was diagnosed with copd a couple of weeks ago and would like to know the signs and symptoms of copd exacerbation?

My granddad who has COPD is complaining of a sore throat, nasal congestion and a "tickling" cough. I checked and Zyrtec (without the decongestant) will not interact with the medications he is on. Will this work and what else will help him alleviate the symptoms?

My mom has bronchitis, I have not been around her since she has had it, but my dad came over today. I have a 2 year old son, so I was just curious if my dad could have it now without having any symptoms or are you only contagious when you are having symptoms?

I am 27 and have suddenly developed a chronic cough. It started with burning sensations in my lungs for one week, then i got a sore throat, now i have a chronic cough that has lasted one week which is getting worse everyday. My throat, now gives me this "dislocated" feeling by popping and clicking when i swallow. I have been exposed to second-hand smoke my entire life and I smoked for 10 years before i quit one year ago. Could this be a lung disease? at first, i thought it was a cold but nobody caught it around me and its only a cough and the cough is getting worse everyday. Its torcherous at night, I cough ever 3 to 5 seconds at night. I made an appointment with my general doctor for tomorrow morning, but should i get my lungs checked out? and by who a pulmonary specialist? Could this be a lung disease or cancer?
