How Long Will I Be Contagious?
It depends on the type of virus that you have. In most cases, you’ll be contagious for a few days, and possibly as long as a week. Since you may not know what kind of illness you have — and doctors don’t test for individual viruses, since there are hundreds of them — it’s best to assume you could spread the disease while you have cold symptoms
Bronchitis is very common in people and the acute form of the illness is very likely to accompany a cold or flu. Bronchitis is a respiratory condition which causes the inflammation of the bronchial tubes. The bronchial tubes have a very important role in protecting the lungs from external irritants such as pollen and dust. The bronchial tubes are covered with cilia, (small hair-like prominences) that prevent viruses and airborne particles from reaching inside the lungs. The bronchial tubes also produce mucus, a substance that covers the respiratory organs and tissues. When external irritants penetrate the natural filters of the bronchial tubes, they cause inflammation, sourness and pain. In response, the bronchial tubes produce excess mucus, generating symptoms such as cough or runny nose.
